Urbana, Illinois

Here are some pictures from Urbana, Illinois. I was living here for two years, and enjoyed it. The area where I lived, on East Michigan Avenue, is a nice quiet residential area two blocks south of downtown.

Yes, I miss it...

Here's a picture of me, sort of settling down at my new place:

On my first day of work at Wolfram Research, this is what I saw outside my window. It's called "Welcome to Illinois":

My car got a slight dusting:

During the fall, the leaves change color, and it looks very nice:

There are also some streets in the older parts of Urbana that are made of brick. This picture is of a portion of East Michigan Avenue that was a couple of blocks west of me:

This is Jumer's Castle Lodge in downtown Urbana. It's a very nice hotel and also has a great restaurant, which has a Bavarian theme. The service is very good. The hotel was formerly the Urbana-Lincoln Hotel (as in Abraham Lincoln) that was two weeks from the wrecking ball before Mr. Jumer bought it and completely restored the hotel from the original plans. The brick portions you see are the original structure. The parts in white were added on later.
